Capacity Building Cell (CBC)

The Capacity Building Cell (CBC) of NIOS was established in the year 2016 for organizing regular and periodic capacity building programmes, trainings / workshops for faculty, staff, other functionaries and to manage SWAYAM portal for Secondary, Senior Secondary and Vocational courses. Capacity-building is defined as the process of developing and strengthening the skills, knowledge, behavior, competencies, processes and resources that organizations and communities need to survive, adapt, and thrive in a fast-changing world. An essential ingredient in capacity-building is a transformation that is generated and sustained over time from within; transformation of this kind goes beyond performing tasks to changing mindsets and attitudes.

Capacity Building Cell develops Capacity Building Policy, Mapping Competencies and Framework of roles, Activities & Competencies and also develops an ICT enabled Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for continuous professional development. The Cell prepares Annual Training Calendar based on the need analysis and input received from various Departments / Units and Regional Centres. The Cell also undertakes Assessment and Certification of Online Digital Literacy Program, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA).

Mandate of CBC

• Developing Capacity Building Policy, Mapping Competencies and Framework of Role, Activities & Competencies.

• Coordination of MOOCs SWAYAM Courses and Swayam Prabha Channels.
• Coordination and conduct of NIOS SWAYAM & SWAYAM Prabha Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting.
• Capacity Building & Hand Holding of the Faculty of various Educational Institutions and Course Coordinators for developing courses to be provided through SWAYAM.
• Assessment & Certification of online digital literacy programme Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA).

Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA)

PMGDISHA is a digital literacy program of Govt. of India launched in June 2017. The scheme is aimed at empowering the citizens in rural areas (one in every eligible household in 14-60 age group) by training them to operate a computer or digital access devices like Tablets, smart phones, etc. and hence enable them to use the information technology and related applications especially Digital Payments to actively participate in the process of nation-building.  The online assessment and certifications are done by NIOS through the online remote proctoring facility.
