Training and Certification of untrained health workers in the State of Bihar

Ex-Hon'Ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani Launching the Project Training of untrained health workers in the State of Bihar on 31st August,2015.

In an evening packed with lump-inthroat moments at Ravindra Bhawan on 31st August,2015, Ex-Hon'Ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani Launched the Project Training and Certification of untrained health workers in the State of Bihar by NIOS in collaboration with State Health Society, Govt. of Bihar. On the Occasion the Minister Said that with the launch of this project every year 80 Thousand Health Workers will be Trained by the NIOS. As estimated by Bihar State Health Society there are more than four lakhs ( 4 lakhs ) untrained health workers in the State of Bihar.

The health workers will be given the high quality course of NIOS on Community Health. Total duration of training will be one year (400hrs) for both theory and practical. NIOS will provide Self Learning Material (SLM), audio video programs, apart from the hands on skill training to the learners. The course designed for Community Health Worker will be offered in all the 38 districts of Bihar State consisting of 149 FRU (First Referral Units) and 533 PHC (Primary Health Center).

All 10th Pass already working as Community Health Worker for 3 to 5yrs will be enrolled for the programme. The health workers will get on the job training without leaving their job.

Fees for the entire training will be Rs. 5000 .At the end of the training candidates will have to appear for the examination both theory and practical and on successful completion will be certified by NIOS as per its norms.

The Health Department Govt of Bihar , has issued a notification to this effect.
